L'intégrale, en mathématique, est la division d'une longueur, d'une surface ou d'un volume défini par une courbe, en un grand nombre de parties "infinitésimales", qui sont ensuite additionnées pour obtenir l'ensemble. De la même façon, un arbre est la somme de nombreuses parties: branches, tronc, racines feuilles, etc... jusqu'aux atomes. Il représente la somme de milliards de ces parties infinitésimales.

Cette série est aussi inspirée par la mécanique quantique, ou les empilements rocheux représentent ces atomes, la matière brute, soumise aux fonctions d'onde et au Principe d'incertitude (Heisenberg). De l'addition de ces "probabilités" nait la matière macroscopique, les objets de forme déterministe que nous connaissons. En parallèle, la position de chaque feuille de l'arbre est aléatoire, mais la forme finale de l'arbre est déterminée par sa génétique.

An integral, in mathematics, is the calculation of a length, an area, or a volume determined by a curve, by dividing it into a great number of infinitesimal parts, which are then added up to obtain the total object. In the same fashion, a tree can be viewed as the combination of billions of atoms, the sum of billions of infinitesimal parts.

This series is also inspired by quantum mechanics, where the jumbled rocks represent these atoms, the fundamental components of matter, subjected to wave functions and Heisenberg's Indetermination Principle. From the addition of these "probabilities" emerges the macroscopic objects we know as "solid". As a parallel, if the position of each leaf of the tree is random, the final form of the tree is deterministic (genetics).
