The formula for universal gravitation (hence the rock in the background) written on the floor is of course a reference to Newton. There is an odd paradox here. Newton who showed how the universe was ruled by mathematical laws
also had a great interest in alchemy during his years at Cambridge. He is often seen as the last of the alchemists.

Pendant des siècles, certaines religions ont eu du mal à réconcilier les exigences du dogme avec
les découvertes de la science. On se rappellera les deux procès qu'intentat l'Inquisition contre Galilée pour
avoir défendu la thèse copernicienne selon laquelle la Terre tournait autour du Soleil, plutôt que l'inverse.
Ici, au haut du tableau, l'équation de champ d'Einstein (Relativité Générale) qui permet de calculer
la courbure de l'espace-temps dans un champ gravitationel, la "forme" de l'Univers.

For centuries, some of the great religions had difficulty reconciling the demands of dogma
with the discoveries of science. Let us recall the two trials by the Inquisition against Galileo for teaching Copernicus' theory
that the Sun was at the center of our Universe and not the Earth.
At the top of this painting, Einstein's Field Equation (from General Relativity) which
calculates the curvature of space-time in a gravitational field, the "shape" of the Universe.
